For all you boycott-oriented people out there, a public service announcement

you know who you are. Yes, the people who think Dutch products should be boycotted (you know, the dutch who's sons and daughters are risking life and limb in Afghanistan fighting side by side with US sons and daughters, the country who has been an ally of the US since the civil war).

But don't worry, this blog-entry isn't going to be about this "so-called" boycott of dutch products and how I feel about it (maybe I will comment on that later, who knows), on the contrary, this is more a public service announcement for all you lovely boycott-fans. A public service announcement regarding the companies you can use in stead of those terrific dutch products:

SC Johnson subsiduaries/companies in the Netherlands

SC Johnson Benelux (Mijdrecht, the Netherlands)
SC Johnson Europlant production facility (Mijdrecht, the Netherlands
Johnson Polymer (sub-division of SC Johnson, Heerenveen, the Netherlands)
SC Johnson Europe BV (Mijdrecht, the Netherlands)
Reinigings Techniek Benelux B.V.
JohnsonDiversey Holding IT B.V.
Johnson Wax Professionals B.V. (manufacturing plant in Uden, the Netherlands)
Diversey IP International B.V. (Schiphol, The Netherlands
DiverseyLever B.V. (Schipholtower, Schiphol, the Netherlands)

reckittbenckiser

The company was formed by a merger between Britain's Reckitt & Colman and the DUTCH company Benckiser NV in 1999.
Really smart move here, posting a UK/Dutch company with a Dutch CEO called Bart Brecht

Proctor&Gamble

Proctor & Gamble Benelux (Rotterdam, the Netherlands)
Proctor & Gamble Coevorden (manufacturing facility, Coevorden the Netherlands)
news: The US-based Gillette Company is gifting its Indian subsidiary — Gillette India Ltd — to its global acquirer, the Netherlands-based Procter & Gamble, in an out-of-market deal.

Gillette, Proctor & Gamble subsiduary:

Gilfin BV (Rijswijk, the Netherlands)
Gillette Group Holland (Rijswijk, the Netherlands)
Gillette Latin American Holding BV (Rijswijk, the Netherlands)

Colgate-Palmolive

Colgate-Palmolive Netherlands (Weesp, the Netherlands
GABA B.V. (Almere, the Netherlands)
Hill's Pet food factory (Etten-Leur, the Netherlands)

Clorox (is a subsiduary of Proctor and Gamble, for their information see above. Glorox Netherlands B.V. )

Anyway, finding US companies that do not have offices/production facilities/european head offices/subsiduaries in the Netherlands will be a challenge. According to the US governments own data (from the US state department's website) there are 1,600 US companies who have offices or subsiduaries in the Netherlands.

I could be wrong but I am fairly certain the protective vests worn by our military in Iraq and Afganistan are made in the Netherlands by a Dutch firm. I doubt the U.S. military members would be wise to "boycott" this "Dutch Product."

it is very likely that one or more components of those vests are made in the Netherladns.

Ramm..... nearly every item in my bathroom from shampoo to toilete cleaner is verified to be made by companies in or doing buisness with the Netherlands...... today when I head off to WalMart I will be restocking these supplies and using the same brands as always :) I like my current brands and see no reason to change them. In fact..... getting to know you and a few of your fellow countrymen has shown me how well we can work togather ;)

well Nainebug, the US and the Netherlands have always been partners. Wether it was in wars, conflicts, times of need or in times of joy.
